Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, initially released back in January, has a Service Pack available for download as of May 14, 2008. There is a long list of improvements and fixes. Unfortunately none of the issues that I have experienced with my Word templates have been resolved.
So, in case anyone that can do anything about this stuff is listening, here are my issues:
- Can’t use “select all” function when portions of a document are locked using continuous section breaks
- Can’t use auto-spell check when portions of a document are locked using continuous section breaks
- Locked fields with no default text are not holding styles correctly
- Fields located in the header/footer of documents won’t update unless a print function is performed. This one really irks me, by the way…
I’d sure like to be able to tell my clients that they don’t need to go back to 2004 or move to a Windows version in order to have functional document templates.
